Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This page is maintained by the XMR Wallet team to explain how the XMR Wallet app handles your information. XMR Wallet is a non-custodial Monero wallet. We designed it so that we collect as little as possible — in normal use, that means none of your wallet data ever reaches us.
Summary
- We do not require an account, email, phone number, or sign-up to use XMR Wallet.
- Your 25-word recovery phrase and private keys are generated and stored only on your device, in the hardware-backed keychain.
- We do not operate servers that can see your balance, your transactions, or your identity.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data, because we do not collect it.
App Privacy at a Glance
This summary mirrors the App Privacy information shown on our App Store product page, following Apple's privacy disclosure framework. For XMR Wallet:
- Data Used to Track You: None. The app does not track you across apps or websites.
- Data Linked to You: None. We do not collect data that identifies you.
- Data Not Linked to You: None collected by us. Optional crash diagnostics, if you enable sharing with developers in iOS settings, are processed by Apple and contain no wallet data.
Data We Do Not Collect
XMR Wallet is self-custody software. The app does not transmit your recovery phrase, private keys, addresses, contacts, balances, or transaction history to us or to any third-party owned by us. There is no backend account system, and we have no ability to access or recover your wallet.
Data Processed Only on Your Device
The following information is stored locally on your device and never sent to us:
- Your recovery phrase, private keys, and view keys (held in the secure keychain).
- Saved contacts, address labels, receive requests, and invoices.
- Your transaction history, notes, and any CSV exports you generate.
- App settings such as display currency, language, and privacy preferences.
Network Connections and Third Parties
To function as a Monero wallet, the app must communicate with the Monero network and a small number of services. These connections are necessary to send and receive funds and to show market data. Your IP address may be visible to the services you connect to, depending on your settings:
- Monero nodes: To sync your wallet and broadcast transactions, the app connects to a Monero node (a public node or your own). You can route this traffic through the built-in Tor client to hide your IP, or connect to your own node for full control.
- Market data: When you view the live Monero market, the app fetches public price, market cap, and volume data from a third-party price provider. These requests do not include your wallet data.
- Apple services: Crash and performance diagnostics may be processed by Apple if you have enabled sharing with developers in your device settings. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy and contains no wallet data.
Tracking and Analytics
XMR Wallet does not include third-party advertising SDKs and does not track you across apps or websites. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and the App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you.
Device Permissions
- Camera: Used only to scan QR codes for addresses and payment requests. Frames are processed on device and are not stored or transmitted.
- Face ID / Touch ID: Used only to unlock the app locally. Biometric data never leaves the Secure Enclave and is never seen by us.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you are in control of retention. XMR Wallet has no user accounts, so there is no account or server-side profile to delete. Deleting the app removes its local data from the device, including your wallet files. Without your recovery phrase, that wallet cannot be restored by anyone — including us. Always back up your recovery phrase offline before deleting the app.
Children's Privacy
XMR Wallet is not directed to children and is intended for users who are old enough to enter into a binding agreement in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you (for example under the GDPR or CCPA). Because XMR Wallet does not collect or store your personal data on our systems, in most cases there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. If you have a question or a privacy request, contact us using the details below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
